Raised design features shiny glazes in shades of purple, blue, dark green, gold, and white. Marked "Amphora/Made in Czecho-Slovakia" in underglaze blue, impressed "15533/5", and signed "P." on the bottom. Measures approx. 5-7/8"H x 6-1/2"W.

Condition:
Double handled jar has chips to upper rim, up to 1/3", weathering, and mineral encrustation. Other items both intact with weathered surfaces.

An Art Nouveau Amphora on Stand
An Art Nouveau Amphora on Stand An Art Nouveau or Jugendstihl glazed ceramic amphora on a bronze stand, probably gilt at one time, approx. 18-1/2"H. The body and the domed lid are glossy glazed ceramic ranging in color from dark teal to mottled tan. The shape flares from a rounded point at the bottom to a 7" wide shoulder and then tapers again towards the neck. The lid has a cast metal finial, and the body sits within an elaborate metal stand with two handles in the flowing floral forms typical of the style, often called a "whiplash motif", possibly of Otto Eckmann (1865-1902). The underside of the lid has some markings incised in the ceramic under the glaze, but no other marks were found.
