  ANTIQUE JUMPER CAROUSEL HORSEA very good antique jumper carousel horse, American, circa 1910, possibly Charles I.D. Looff, hand-carved in cypress with a hollow body & separately carved head - turned slightly outwards with the mane carved in the opposing direction, the rump & tail carved in the solid, all 4 legs constructed in segments. The surface decorated overall with remnants of old 'milk paint', raised on an associated iron post through the belly plate within the pole hole, and mounted to an associated wood platform. Measuring 41" high x 43" long x 10" wide. The use of cypress is comparatively far less common than those carousel horses constructed in pine, poplar or basswood.
