3 SOUTHERN STONEWARE POTTERY FORMSGrouping of Southern stoneware forms. 1st item: Alkaline glaze stoneware preserving jar with blue rutile runs, impressed circular mark on shoulder. 10 1/4" height. Late 19th century. 2nd item: Squat brown glazed stoneware jug, albany glaze with black glaze imperfections. 9" height. Late 19th/Early 20th century. 3rd item: Stoneware salt glazed jar with two incised lines on upper shoulder, appears to have a stamp near the base of the jar (illegible), alkaline glazed lid. 8 1/4" height. Late 19th century.
Condition:
1st item: old, small chip to outside rim edge. 2nd item - Overall excellent. 3rd item - small chip to outside rim edge, lid with edge chips.

"Jug" Johnson, Lanford Station, Laurens County, South Carolina. 15"H. Early 20th century. 2nd item - Greene Co. stoneware churn with an incised "4" denoting gallon capacity, Albany slip glaze interior. 16 1/2"H. Late 19th century. 3rd item - Greene Co. stoneware bowl with shaped rim of 5/8" width. 5 1/2"Dia x 3 3/8"H. Late 19th century. 4th item - Middle TN stoneware bowl, found in the Sparta area, incised line around midsection. 6 3/8"Dia x 3 3/4"H. Late 19th/Early 20th century. 5th item - Ovoid stoneware preserving jar, attributed to Greene Co., TN. 10 1/4"H. Late 19th century. Provenance - Yates Estate, Greeneville, Tennessee.
Condition:
1st item & 2nd items - Overall very good condition. 3rd item - some glaze loss to rim edge and interior. 4th item - overall very good condition. 5th item - missing lid, nicks to inner rim, otherwise very good condition.

2 SOUTHERN STONEWARE POTTERY ITEMS, INCL. M. C. RUSSSEL...1st item: Maysville, Kentucky advertising whiskey jug, white ground and stamped in cobalt "M.C. R. 3rd & Market Sts. Maysville, KY." M. C. Russell and later with his son, operated in Maysville from about 1886 to 1902. 7 1/8" H. 2nd item: Southern, TN or KY, stoneware jug with cobalt feather flower design and pulled handle. 13 1/2" H. Condition:
1st item: Chips to rim, shoulder and base. 2nd item: One hairline crack running from rim to base. Abrasions to body and some chipping to base.

MINIATURE WHI...1st item: Flat sided miniature whiskey jug advertising Ames Buggy and Automobiles of Kentucky, two-tone glaze, with blue stenciled letters on front: "TAKE A SMILE WITH AMES OF OWENSBORO", and en verso: "MFR. of PLEASURE VEHICLES / BRED IN OLD KENTUCKY". 2 7/8" H. Note: Ames was a buggy manufacturer established circa 1898 in Owensboro. From 1910 to 1925 the company manufactured automobiles including a beetle-backed "gentleman's roadster" and a five-passenger tourer, and also produced replacement bodies for the Ford Model T. Green River Whiskey was used to fill these jugs, which were given out for promotional purposes by Ames. 2nd item: Southern alkaline glazed stoneware jug, South Carolina or Georgia, ovoid form with dark olive glaze. 6 1/4" H. Third quarter of the 19th century.

Condition:
1st item: Glued breaks to rim and handle area, rim with chips. Hairlines emanating from the rim. 2nd item: Minor glaze exfoliated to the rim, a few scattered shallow chips to the base.

Incised lines on upper shoulder, and incised "2" stamp denoting gallon capacity. 11 1/4"H. Southern or Mid-Atlantic, second half of the 19th century. 2nd item: Middle Tennessee stoneware pitcher with light brown to grey transition glaze, pulled handle and incised line to neck. Pitcher: 9 1/4" H. Middle Tennessee, Late 19th/early 20th century.
Condition:
Both items in very good condition with scattered firing flaws. Jar with discoloration to glaze and shallow chip to rim.

2 SOUTHERN STONEWARE POTTERY JARS, INCL. HAUGHT - SILVE...1st item: Scarce West Virginia stoneware pottery preserving jar with cobalt stenciled decoration reading "H. P. Haught, Silver Hill West VA". 8 1/4". Last half 19th century. 2nd item: Stoneware pottery preserving or canning jar, likely Middle Tennessee, with incised counting "tally" or math marks to one side. 9" H. Late 19th/Early 20th century.
Condition:
1st item: Overall very good condition. Firing marks noted to rim and body to one side, shallow chip to base. 2nd item: Overall good condition. Long vertical firing mark to body. Outer and inner rims with fleabites or shallow chipping.

Interior with brown glaze. 9 1/2" H. Last Qtr. 19th century. 3rd item: East TN large oval figured wood dough bowl with handles, 4 3/4" H x 26 3/4" L x 13 1/2" W. 19th century. 4th item: Vintage PRIDE OF TENNESSEE SMOKING TOBACCO square wooden storage container with wire bail handle and nailed construction. 9 1/2" H x 11" W. Late 19th/early 20th century.
Condition:
1st item: Scattered chipping including to rim, spout, and base. Several hairlines noted including one running vertically from rim to base and radiating to each side of the body. 2nd item: Hairline with spiders to one side of body, otherwise overall good condition. 3rd item: Some wood shrinkage noted to one side, overall general and expected use wear. 4th item: some breaks to wood at top left corner with some scattered losses to one corner and rim. Missing the original lid or cover. A few areas of errant paint splatter.
