Spencer Lens Company Monocular
Spencer Lens Company Monocular Microscope, 1924, Buffalo, New York, Model 44, serial number 89878, with black-enameled cast-iron frame and brass and steel fittings, with applied label "Department of the Interior/US/Fish and Wildlife Service" and their inventory number 419125, h. 12-1/2". Spencer company records show the 80,000 range serial numbers manufactured between May 1923 and August 1925. Their 1924 catalogue illustrates this very popular model on page 27; this particular lot also features the rack-and-pinion, vernier gauge mechanical stage No. 493 illustrated on page 68 of the same catalogue.
