EIGHT-DRAWER SPICE CHEST, N.S., 1860-75An eight-drawer spice chest in old varnish with scalloped base and raised panel sides. The top has a nicely molded edge as does the backboard. Original porcelain knobs, clean condition with minor chip on one drawer. Nova Scotia, 1860-75. H: 21"; W/L: 18"; D/P: 8". FRANCAIS: Commode à épices à huit tiroirs, vernis ancien, base chantournée, côtés à panneaux soulevés. Plateau et panneau arrière mouluré. Boutons en porcelaine d'origine, bonne condition avec un petit éclat sur un tiroir. Nouvelle-Écosse, 1860-75.

Virginia Chippendale spice chest, walnut with poplar secondary, figured walnut door opening to 11 interior drawers, original skirt and bracket feet, probably Virginia, circa 1770, 23-3/4 x 17-1/4 x 9-1/2 in. Generally good condition, hinges replaced with some associated patches, lock replaced with some associated losses, chip and loss to top corner of door, one rear foot facing with crack and repair, old finish with some sun fading, normal cracks, minor wear and abrasions. Purchased in Petersburg, Virginia; Deaccessioned from MESDA and Old Salem to benefit the Acquisition Fund.

Original brass knobs on the dovetailed drawers and a single brass carrying knob on the top. English, circa 1830. H: 9.5"; W: 13"; D: 5.5". FRANCAIS: Commode à épices en pin, six tiroirs, base à console, peinture d’origine ocre et vert foncé, motif de pli de serviette peint à fines rayures sur les côtés et les tiroirs. Boutons en laiton d'origine sur les tiroirs à queue d'aronde, un seul bouton de transport en laiton sur le dessus. Angleterre, circa 1830.
