It is among the larger Northern pueblos and its pottery is distinguished by buff colored clay, an overall cream-slipped ground with dark black floral, fauna, and geometric designs. Because the clay of this area is quite elastic, the Santo Domingo potters have traditionally been able to create large ollas, dough bowls, and storage vessels. Geometric design programs are most common.
