FRENCH CARVING OF A SAINTA mid 20th century French wood carving of a Saint. Standing figure wearing a bishop's mitre and robes, holding a grape bunch in his outstretched left hand, a staff in the other, possibly Urban of Langres. Signed "Maurin" along the side of the garment, with an applied brass label reading "H. Maurin-St. Vincent, Exposition La Vigne et Le Vine, 1961 Chateau Lascombes -Margaux", mounted on a wood plinth also labeled, "Hand carved Statue from France. This carving was featured in the London Chop House entrance for 30 years." Wear to the varnish in several areas, some minor damage and older repair. 40 1/4" high overall. ESTIMATE $500-700
