(extensive wear, areas of exposed foundation, loss, later stabilizing stitches added to top and bottom edges).

MARTIN LOGAN SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM A five channel surround system to include a pair of Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL electrostatic loudspeaker featuring a full-sized 34-inch tall curvilinear XStat™ electrostatic transducer, an 8-inch high-excursion woofer internally mounted, push-style speaker terminals and curved inserts for ease of connecting, the rubber end caps on the terminal are also removable for the use of banana plugs instead of bare wire. Supplied with sturdy, 3/8-16 ETC™ spikes, which can be used to fine tune vertical wave launch, enhance stability on thick carpets, and create tighter coupling between speaker and floor to provide a tighter and detailed bass performance. Each spike is conveniently covered by removable rubber end caps if you prefer not to use spikes.
The center channel is a Martin Logan Motion8 with a 1" Folded Motion tweeter and two four inch woofers. Voice-matched with MartinLogan ESL speakers and finished in piano black.
Rear speakers are Martin Logan Motion 15 speakers with 1" Folded Motion tweeters and 5.25" woofers in a piano black finish.

Note: The design for these stools directly related to a pattern for a 'Grecian footstool' published in R. Ackerman's Repository of Arts of 1826 , pl. 58. Ackerman praises this type of stool for its comfort and stability (see P. Agius, ed., Ackerman's Regency Furniture and Interiors , London, 1984, p. 88).
Condition
Both missing areas of carving and molding. Some carving is plaster not wood. Minor staining and areas of over-painting. Sound frames, will need to be re-upholstered.

Arms, legs, and stretchers are hardwood, possibly birch.

The present figures depict an occurrence in Wang's journey north across the steppe, when the beauty of her voice caused a flock of geese to forget to flap their wings and fall to the ground; hence she is also known as 'falling wild goose'. Her image, holding a pipa whilst riding on a horse (see image 1) similar to the present examples, was depicted on a woodblock print book Li Chao Ming Yuan Shi Ci ?????? published in the thirty-eighth year of Qianlong reign, corresponding to 1773AD. A closely comparable example of similar design and colour palette was sold at the Guest & Gray Gallery, London, Ref: Y913.
