Huntington first found her love of animals through her father's work as a paleontologist and art through her mother's illustrations. Huntington studied under Henry Hudson Kitson in Boston before travelling to New York to study under Hermon Atkins MacNeil at the Art Students League. Huntington was a member of the National Academy of Design, the Copely Society, and the National Sculpture Society.

Moffat and May Martin Moffat in Reno, Nev. She grew up, a cattleman's daughter, loving the ranches and riding horses. She married George A. Pope Jr. in 1959 and together they built a Thoroughbred horse racing empire that included 27 stakes winners in the United States and in Europe. Among the many races that they won include the 1962 Kentucky Derby.
