SIMPLEX TYPEWRITER MACHINE MODEL
SIMPLEX TYPEWRITER MACHINE MODEL AOriginal model printed 36 characters. Original packaging.
Produced ca. 1934, Model A Simplex typewriters were inexpensive alternatives to office machines. Variations on a simple design, they employ a metal framework and a flat, circular dial that included rubber letters and characters, sometimes all upper case, sometimes both upper and lower. As the dial was rotated, the rubber letters passed against an ink roller. The user turned the dial until the desired letter was at the printing point, then pressed down on the dial. As the letter left its impression on the paper, the dial advanced one space. When the end was reached, the dial would be lifted and slid back to the starting position. Original box.
Issued: c. 1934
Dimensions: 8.5"L x 5.5"W, in box
Manufacturer: Simplex Typewriter Co.
Country of Origin: United States
