Further study followed in Paris, later returning to NY, then Philadelphia, and eventually Indiana where he exhibited with T.C. Steele, Richard Gruelle, and William Forsyth during the 1890’s. 16 1/2" x 22 1/4". Large cut in lower field and several smaller tears throughout.

BOCKLER, 2 ENGRAVINGS OF STARBURST FOUNTAIN DESIGNSGeorg Andreas Bockler (German, active 1644-1698), pair (2) of hand-colored engravings on laid paper of starburst fountain designs from Architecturea Curiosa Nova Pars Tertia, Paulus Furst, Nuremberg, 1664, plates 61 and 63. Matted and framed under glass in matching woodgrain frames. Sight: 12" H x 7 1/2" W. Frames: 19" H x 15" W. Note: Bockler was an architect and engineer with a particular interest in hydraulics. His 1664 book featured dozens of designs for Baroque fountains in public squares and private gardens, many using hydraulics to create various imaginative effects.
Condition:
Prints with minimal toning and foxing, adhered to backings at each corner. Frames have some scuffs and scratches.
