100+ FRAMED NATIVE AMERICAN STONE
100+ FRAMED NATIVE AMERICAN STONE PREFORM TOOLSNative American, United States, Archaic to Woodland period, ca. 5000 BCE to 1000 CE. An intriguing collection of over 100 tools and preform projectile points all hand-knapped from stone in a pink-red hue. All pieces have been clearly worked and most appear to be the beginning stages of forming a projectile point with a triangular blade, but the stem or neck is unfinished. Some of the preforms have characteristics that hint at the eventual typology of the final point. Some of these may have been designated as scrapers or cutting tools and there are drill or awl bits with chiseled slender tips grouped in circles near the bottom of the case. Each artifact is mounted on a green felt in a wood and glass display case, ready to display as a decorative and education piece! Size (larger points): 3" L x 1.5" W (7.6 cm x 3.8 cm); (frame): 25.5" L x 2" W x 31.75" H (64.8 cm x 5.1 cm x 80.6 cm)
Provenance: private Brevard, North Carolina, USA collection
