17th century beaded embroidery, assembled from fine panels, female figure in blue gown holding flowers and surrounded by exotic flowers, fruit and animals including a camel, parrots, phoenix and griffin, all within rectangular panel with canted corners, polychrome beads, purl and raised work on probably a linen ground mounted on green silk mat, 16-1/2 x 20-1/2 in. ANTIQUE SPOT MOTIF SAMPLER DATED 1786, NETHERLANDS Worked in multi-color silk threads on linen, top register with cartouche enclosing maker's initials "LVG" and date of 1786, the well balanced composition with a variety of floral motifs, crowns, and trees and a center cornucopia with a carnation bloom, the whole within a finely worked strawberry border, conservation mounted and presented in a painted black and gold cove molded frame.
