The bark Sunbeam was a whaleship out of the port of New Bedford. There is a small G engraved on the side of the tooth, and has a custom fitted wooden stand. 6 1/2" high, 2 3/4" wide, 1 3/4" deep.

From 1951-1984 he was painter in residence at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. The Cress Gallery of Art at UTC is named in his honor."
