EMMA LEVINIA SWAN (1853-1927, RI, GERMANY) STILLlife painting of currants, late 19th c. Oil painting on canvas depicting a basket of currants glistening under the light with a luminous, translucent quality. Swan was primarily self-taught under the instruction of Abott Thayer with further studies in Germany and Holland. Signed E. L. Swan in the lower right. Sight size 14" x 20", overall 22" x 27 3/4". Some craquelure, light wear, frame with minor losses and surface wear. Otherwise good condition.
