1915 AMBROSE SWASEY PLAQUETTE IN BRONZE This plaque is a reduction from a tablet mounted on a wall in the lobby of Swasey Chapel at Dennison University in Granville, OH. The uniface plaquette has Swasey seated, facing left, in a framed design with his name at the bottom. Signed by Brenner in lower right and dated 1915. Swasey was a mechanical engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, manager, astronomer, and philanthropist. He helped to popularize the field of astronomy by inventing new telescopes and helped build a number of important observatories. He later won many awards in the field of Engineering and for several years was the President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Pencil-signed and dated in the bottom right corner. Float-mounted behind plexiglass in a maple frame that measures 36" x 28". Warren Rosser, who was Chair of the Kansas City Art Institute's Painting department for 28 years, is a noted painter and printmaker in the Kansas City area.
Provenance : From the corporate art collection of a Kansas City based Fortune 500 company, previously acquired from the Jan Weiner Gallery.
Condition
Very good condition with no issues apparent. Not removed from the frame.
