SWEDISH SCHOOL O/C ABSTRACT PORTRAIT OF A MOTHER AND CH...Swedish school, style of Ivan Augeli (Swedish, 1869-1917), oil on canvas abstract genre painting of a mother and child. The mother is attired in green suit and blue hat and embraces her child, attired in a contrasting red, on her lap while holding a book against a background of blue window panes. A dark shape, possibly a dog's head fills the foreground. The work is rendered with heavy impasto and bright colors cohesive with the avant-garde movement. Inscribed in pencil PUEMTSEK, en verso of stretcher. Sight: 24 1/2" H x 17" W. Frame: 32 1/2" H x 25 1/4" W. Mid-late 20th Century.
