  SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR MODEL 1884. .45-70 caliber 32 1/2'' round barrel rich oiled walnut stock. Marked U.S. Springfield with eagle on lock plate US model 1884 on top of breach. Inspector mark SWP over 1889 opposite lock. S/n 466961. Small N below trigger tang on stock. Larger P in circle 2 inches lower. VP on barrel. Numbering on sights is very clear. Over all condition of gun excellent.

  Frank Wesson: 1862, two trigger rifle, .41 cal, 24" bbl, first type sporter, fitted with sling swivels, action working however barrel release does not function (stuck shut with dried grease), very good plus overall condition, serial # 2566. Estimate $350-450

  SPRINGFIELD 1888 WITH BAYONET. .45-70 caliber 32 5/8'' barrel with Buffington sight. U.S. Model 1884 marked on breech block U.S Springfield and eagle on lock stamped VP on barrel and SWP 1891 on stock. Contains sliding ramrod bayonet. S/n 527422. Lots of dings and scratches on stock barrel is in good shape.

  MODEL 1884 SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR RIFLE WITH NEW YORK MARKINGS Serial number 558750, inspector's cartouche on left side of walnut stock reading SWP/1892, 32-5/8 in. round barrel with V/ P/ eagle head / P proof; fixed front sight and adjustable Buffington rear sight, marked U S / MODEL/1884 at breech and U S / SPRINGFIELD on lockplate; a script P inspector's mark is stamped in to the stock behind the trigger guard; with sliding ramrod-bayonet; the top of the butt is stamped "8 / NY / 364" with the impression highlighted in white paint. Overall length 52 in.

  MODEL 1884 SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR RIFLE WITH ARSENAL MARKINGS Serial number 539499, inspector's cartouche on left side of walnut stock reading SWP/1892, 32-5/8 in. round barrel with V/ P/ eagle head / P proof; fixed front sight and adjustable Buffington rear sight; marked U S / MODEL/1884 at breech and U S / SPRINGFIELD on lockplate; a script P inspector's mark is stamped in to the stock behind the trigger guard; with sliding ramrod-bayonet; the butt is stamped with a "7" over "522" on the right side and a large "7" on the left side; a brass tag reading "F /22" hangs from a front sling swivel. Overall length 52 in.

  SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1884 RIFLE. Trapdoor style with a ramrod bayonet. .45-70 caliber 32 1/2'' round barrel and a heavy dark finished wood stock. The gun has several makings including 10 over 284 on right side of stock. SWP over 1891 small stamp on left side stock above trigger VP on barrel by breach US model 1884 on top of trapdoor and U.S. Springfield and eagle on lockplate. S/n 209255. Bore condition very good normal wear.

  Spang & Wallace: 1840, percussion fowler, .74 cal, 44 1/4" bbl, possibly earlier mfg as flintlock, fitted with Spang & Wallace, Phila, lockplate, missing hammer, brass mounts, iron r.rod, stock with splits. Estimate $250-350

  Model 1879 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine.45 - 70 caliber serial number 188797 (with star) on the breechblock walnut stock stamped with inspector's cartouche reading SWP for Samuel W. Porter and dated 1882 additional stock markings include the number ''2'' five times and SPF D16 on the left side of the butt US/MODEL/1873 on the breechblock barrel marked with V P and eagle's head over a secondary P lockplate marked U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873 with an eagle in front of the hammer. Note that later Springfield carbines retained an 1873 date on the lockplate.LOA 41 in.; Barrel 22 in.Overall very good condition with expected dings to the stock.Private Collection Knoxville Tennessee

  Model 1884 Springfield Ttrapdoor Rifle .45-70 cal. 32.5" round barrel S/N 475567. 1884 dated breechblock no rear barrel sight a rear receiver sight has been added. Walnut stock. Condition: Barrel and action retains 90% of the original blue finish. Breechblock with traces of case color mostly turning brown. Walnut stock has had a coat of Tru-oil applied. Still retains a good cartouche; the stock has a cut out where the receiver sight was added. Bore is excellent.

  Model 1889 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle with Rod Bayonet .45-70 cal. 32.5" round barrel with large VP and eagle S/N 97245.? 1884 dated breechblock. Buffington rear sight.?Walnut stock with firing proof behind the triggerguard and nice cartouche SWP/1891.?This rifle was first produced by the arsenal in 1878-79 period and was later converted by the arsenal to the 1888 configuration.? This is a hard-to-find rifle if you collect Trapdoors.? Condition: All metal is very sharp and crisp and is a dark brown.?Bore is excellent.? Stock is good with very sharp cartouche.

Clean bore good rifling strong action. Barrel shows light rust V P and Eagle head very clear. Stock is dark with old dings does Not have cartouche. 1884 under Model and Springfield on lockplate are fading but legible.
