Gowdy" (Thomas Gowdey, b. 1795, working Nashville, 1825-d. 1863). Note: the misspelling on Gowdy's name in this mark, and on other Gowdey pieces, suggests they were made elsewhere and retailed in Nashville. 4-1/8"H, 3.62 oz troy. Circa 1850. Provenance: the collection of John Montague, Memphis, Tenn. Condition: Handle has been repaired/resoldered, otherwise very good condition.
