A Decorative Japanese Tea Canister Of cylindrical form, the black painted metal canister measures approx. 4-3/8"D x 6-1/4"H, stamped "Made in Japan" on the underside. Lift-off lid with inner lid with brass finial. Decorated on the outside with images of cranes near a tree in a landscape with small bits of abalone inlay, gilt pigment and brown textured pigment for the tree.

Victorian Ivory Tea Canister, third quarter 19th century, of oval section, bored from a single piece of ivory, the lid fitted with a metal spring hinge and opening to reveal a recessed fitted interior lid with turned ivory finial, the flat top with an applied sterling silver cartouche, no city mark but probably London, 1865-1866, engraved with the crest of Bank(e)s of Kingston Hall, Dorset, h. 3-1/8", w. 2-1/4", d. 3-1/4".
