A LARGE ANTIQUE SERVICE OF TEA LEAF IRONSTONE (69) pieces, 19th century, made in England by various potters, white field with copper luster rim band and central tea plant motif. The pieces are as follows: (12) plates (10 in.) (six with heat marks; one chip; all with some crazing and/or cutlery marks); (13) plates (7 7/8 in.) (all with some degree of heat mark, one with hairline); (2) soup bowls; (8) mugs and (9) saucers (mugs vary in size; darkening and crazing); (2) side plates (6 3/4 in.). Total (44). Accessory Pieces include: (5) trays, (the largest 15 1/2 in.) and the handled trays (11.5 in.); a square open bowl and (2) small round open bowls; a pedestal fruit bowl (4 1/2 x 10 in.); (3) covered entree servers; (3) tea pots; (2) covered sugars; (3) cream or milk jugs various sizes; a crescent bone dish; a gravy boat; a wash basin with (2) water pitchers (12 5/8 in.). Total 25 pieces. Included is Grandma's Tea Leaf Ironstone: A History and Study of English and American Potteries by Annise Doring Heaivilin (1981), hardcover, used.
