A Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Teapot with Lid Squared form sits on four bracket feet, has a squared handle and spout, circular inset lid with peach and leaf knop. Decorated overall with landscapes and foliage in cobalt blue, no marks found. Measures approx. 4"H x 3-3/4"W x 3-3/4"D. There is a portion of an inventory card from Marguerite Riordan, Stonington, CT folded inside the teapot assigning an 18th century date to the piece.

CHINESE PEACOCK GLAZED SQUARED TEAPOT ,19TH C. A unique, rectangular, Chinese porcelain teapot glazed in peacock blue, the sides etched with 3 wide bands of huiwen lines, with simplified taotie in the center of three sides, the spout with subtle ridges, the handle of squared (attached) porcelain with incised corners, the cover with a pyramid finial over broadening tiered rectangles, the underside unglazed.
H: 7" (17.7 cm) W: 6 1/2" (16.5cm)

Condition: In excellent condition with no dmagae or repair evident.
