COLONIAL RHODE ISLAND ACCOUNTING BOOK, 1750-1820,linen bound. Zebedee Hopkins Jr (1736-1797), Gloucester, RI, he was a lawyer. This account book also includes records of work and payments that he made for various jobs, including paying bounties to Revolutionary War soldiers, repairs, farming, furniture making, Captain Ezekiel Cornell (also a US Congressman) is frequently mentioned. Also contains legal proceedings related to a woman having a child out of wedlock. Fantastic illustration of a ship. Also contains a letter dated 1764 from Newport, RI mentioning Dr. Solomon Drowne. There is another letter which details a poem related to the American cause during the Revolution. Various old clippings, newspapers, documents, illustrations. Approx. 80 pages and 16 loose letters and receipts. In fair condition, shows chipping to the linen cover, as well as wear, foxing and staining throughout. 13 1/2" x 8 1/2"
