SILDAR "THE CHILDREN'S PARADE" 1973 WALL SCULPTUREWilliam Sildar (American, 1929 - 2006) wood wall sculpture, depicting a collection of children's toys such as blocks and other figures, and titled to the back "The Children's Parade" and also "The Two of Us Once Played Here Together III". Signed to lower right "Sildar 73" as well as to the back, "Sildar 1973", and measuring 10-3/4" in height with width of 26-1/4" and depth of 1-1/2". In overall good condition, all measurements are approximate. William Peter Sildar (American, 1929 - 2006) was active and lived in New York. He was known for torso and mixed-media (made of twigs, dolls, pieces of wood,etc.) sculpture as well as teaching. From the mid 1960s through the 1970s he operated a workshop in the East Village of New York as well as being a part-time sculpture teacher at a university there. He died February 27, 2006.

TROCK-MADSEN O/C PAINTING, CHILDREN PLAYING, EXHIBIT...Carl Trock-Madsen (Denmark, 1891-1953) oil on canvas expressionist painting titled "Children Playing, 1930," depicting children in a garden or schoolyard under the supervision of a nearby adult in the shadows. The work is rendered in dark tones with large painterly brushstrokes and light impasto. Signed and dated "TM 3..." lower right. Danish art exhibition label en verso with title, date 1930, and artist name and handwritten inscription with artist name and date, en verso of canvas. Pencil inscription reading "Collectors Art Exhibit 1934" en verso of stretcher. Unframed. Sight: 36 3/4" H x 43 1/4" W.

Condition:
Overall wear and age to canvas, very fragile along perimeter of work. Some abrasion to lower right corner.
