DOULTON LAMBETH VICTORIAN CHARGER PLATE, MUSICIANSRare Doulton Lambeth Faience charger in the style of Renaissance Maiolica ware. The group of musicians was painted in the raised Impasto technique by Emma Roberts.
Musical instruments and a score are hand-painted in the recessed center. The pottery shape was made at Doulton's Burslem factory in 1884 and has an impressed factory mark. It was then decorated at the London studio and Lambeth has been painted on the base. The artist's initials are also hand-painted on the base. ??????
