AHMED ALI (INDIAN, 1923-2016), TWO PHOTOGRAPHS OF INDIA Includes two vintage photographs, both signed and dated by the artist Ahmed Ali, the largest is an image taken at a Hindu temple in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, India of the beautiful carved figures of gods and goddesses that adorn the temple, and the second is a photo perhaps from the artist's visit to the Bastar jungles in Madhya Pradesh where he took images of tribal people visiting the market to buy and sell goods, both framed with mats, not examined outside of the frames.

A LARGE INDIAN CARVED BLACK STONE KRISHNA SCULPTURE 20th century, the youthful Krishna is depicted as a cowherd playing the flute, the lure of his music was irresistible to his female admirers, the gopis, who symbolize the human soul, his large eyes are painted white with black pupils, he wears a necklace, armbands, earrings, rings, and an elaborate cap, dressed in dhoti cloth pants highlighted in gilt, red paint remains to his hands, mouth, and around his eyes possibly from ritual use, raised on a square base with low relief gilt scrolling pattern.
