Black Wool Cape, with corded edges
Black Wool Cape, with corded edges at the shoulders and pockets, interior pockets, and bound button holes, the purple lining with pockets, great for real winter weather, l. 49-1/2" from shoulder, labeled "Hardy Amies, Purveyor to English Royalty". Hardy Amies, designer of the Queen of England's wardrobe, was born in 1910 and died in 2003. His creations were first on the cover of "Vogue" in 1947; in 1955 he was appointed the Queen's official dressmaker. In the 1980's he also designed clothing for Diana, Princess of Wales. He was knighted in 1996. He also designed costumes for Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey".
