The Columbian Star pattern was issued in response to William Henry Harrison's 1840 campaign for the United States Presidency. Despite his wealth and social prominence, Harrison campaigned as a humble farmer from North Bend, Ohio and is often depicted in campaign ephemera and literature standing outside a log cabin, plow in hand.
