MEISSEN PORCELAIN TROPHY VASE on circular wood stand having platform base a perpetual trophy awarded to Dr. J.M. Burkhart Olympia WA who won best rose in the Portland Rose Show in 1957 1958 & 1959. It was purchased by Harry Zell of Zell Bros. Jewelry in Paris in 1955 as an antique trophy. See the ''Rose Chatter'' pamphlet accompanying the Lot. The double handled gold accented having white field with hand painted colorful roses on pedestal base. Height 23.50''. Blue crossed swords mark underfoot. c. late 19th-early 20th century. The custom plinth with brass tag reading ''Zell Bros. Perpetual Sweepstakes Trophy Portland Rose Society''. The urn is in very good condition with a small amount of gilding loss and no visible chips or repairs. The plinth shows cracking and the paint is chipping.

This cup predates The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta by 20 years.
