Simeon Asbury was killed on 28th of June 1864 at the Seven Days Fight in Richmond Virginia. Thomas was later promoted to 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Infantry Cavalry Regiment of Georgia Company C. John Hammond Jr. was the grandson of Abner Hammond and the nephew of LeRoy Hammond originally from Farnham Parish Virginia who were both Revolutionary War heroes imprisoned in Havana Cuba. After the war they moved to South Carolina. John was the brother of Frances Martha Hammond Hollinshead mother of Sallie Clarke Hollinshead Asbury who was the wife of Darden Asbury and son of Thomas Wesley Asbury.
