TURN-TEPLITZ ART NOUVEAU HIGH
TURN-TEPLITZ ART NOUVEAU HIGH RELIEF PLAQUE 22½" x 4" x 16" Circa 1910, a representation of early Art Nouveau work as it is showing Aesthetic movement influence. The label "Amphora" is used by most to describe this art pottery form. The style gained popularity in the 1890's and was over by the end of WWI. This plaque is a combination of mold and hand sculpting. The figure is unique to each plaque. The glaze is hand formulated and varies from pieces to piece, depending from which production lot it came from. Many pieces ended up in environments from which few examples survive. The reverse has impressed makers mark and item/mold number. Period furnace fired gilding. The presentation is an allegorical representation of music.
