PAUL DACHSEL KUNSTKERAMIK ART POTTERY RETICULATED PITCHERPAUL DACHSEL KUNSTKERAMIK ART POTTERY RETICULATED PITCHER, Turn-Teplitz, circa 1907, puce printed PD monogram mark, of elongated tall tapering cylindrical form, the multi-loop handle pierced at the lower terminal, splashed and overlaid in rustic green and brown textured glazes - h:17.75w:7.50in. Provenance: Estate of Ronald Sperling Literature: Reference, Richard L. Scott, Ceramics from the House of Amphora 1890 - 1915, 2004, p. 260. For a related ivory-ground example, see Rago Arts, Lambertville, New Jersey, January 19, 2019, lot 203, and for a strikingly similar example with Jason Jacques Gallery, New York, ref. DAP059. In 1905, Dachsel, the son-in-law of Alfred Stellmacher, the founder of Amphora Pottery company in Turn-Teplitz, founded his own pottery studio. Kunstkeramik Paul Dachsel designs favored simple forms with applied handles and ornamentation in the organic Art Nouveau style. The ceramic studio remained in business until 1911.

Paul Hausser ANS Note dated 14 Aug. 1970 in German. Paul "Papa" Hausser (October 7 1880 - December 21 1972) was an officer in the German Army achieving the high rank of lieutenant-general in the inter-war Reichswehr. After retirement from the regular Army he became the "father" (thus the nickname "Papa") of the Waffen-SS and one of its most eminent leaders. Battling in both the Eastern and Western fronts of World War II he was seriously wounded twice losing an eye in the first incident. After the war he became a member of the HIAG which sought to rehabilitate the reputation and legal status of the Waffen-SS. Condition: Very good.
