US R. JOHNSON MODEL 1836 FLINTLOCK PISTOLAn extremely nice and well-marked Model 1836 flintlock pistol by R. Johnson, of Middletown, Connecticut, dated 1837. The oistol is all original, and has exceptionally clear cartouches on the stock. The lock functions crisply, and the steel mounts are clean. The stamps on the barrel are, US over TW over P, with the āSā in US being a little faint. Dimensions: 14.25 inches overall, with barrel 8.5 inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
Very good, as cleaned, although the stock appears untouched, and is excellent. There is a sliver of wood missing behind the cock. Condition:
Very good, with staining on the barrel and mounts, but no abuse or wear. There is a small crack just in front of the lock, and a couple of minor scratches. The lockplate is dark, but the markings are exceptional. The screw on the cock is possibly a replacement. There is minor pitting above the vent hole, and at the muzzle. MODEL 1816 MIDDELTON FLINTLOCK PISTOLA handsome US North Model 1816 single shot flintlock pistol, well marked, and in excellent functioning condition. The barrel is marked P over US, and the lock has the eagle, US, and Middletown, Connecticut. There are marks on the wood at the sideplate, including a small oval, and a letter U, as well as another that is not legible. Dimensions: t he gun is 16 inches long overall, with the barrel being 9 inches long. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $32.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
The wood is original but has been reworked, and there is a piece missing behind the lockplate that exposes the rear of the plate. There is a barely visible crack in the grip. The marks on the lockplate are partially obscured, but parts are clear. The wooden ramrod appears to be original, although it too has been refinished. The steel parts are very nice, and clean. There are a couple of tiny patches of scattered pitting just above the touch hole, and some signs of cleaning on the barrel.
