RARE 37MM TRU-FLITE FLARE GUNTru Flite 37mm Super Long Range gas or flare gun, built at the Lake Erie Chemical Co. of Cleveland in the 1930s-1940s, designed for firing 37mm CS gas or smoke grenades during police standoffs. The thick solid steel receiver and barrel can handle "hot" loads, enabling the launcher to propel grenades over longer distances than was usual for its day. Hardwood stock with rubber shoulder pad, and front and rear sights. The reddish color of the receiver is standard factory finish. Fine condition, with minor wear. Barrel 14" long, 29-1/2" overall. Rare Royal Doulton footed covered dish with fiery, deep, vibrant colors. An underglaze modern design of continuous peacock feathers gracefully adorns the top of the cover which is modeled with a pedestal for a majestic peacock stands in contrasting splashes of light and dark turquoise highlighted in red to accent the feathers. Bottom base marked Sung, Royal Doulton Flambe backstamp and Exhibition label.
