PRUSSIAN ROYAL PORTRAITS, PRINCESSES LOUISE AND VICTORI...A pair of Prussian Royal silhouette portraits, ink and watercolor, of Princess Louise and Princess Victoria; housed within an elaborate pierced gilt bronze easel frame with extensive engraving. Gothic Revival frame design features a pierced crown, opposing winged griffins, and scrolled feet with a fleur de lis center drop. Inscription en verso reads, "Victoria, Princess Frederick William of Prussia, Princess Royal of Great Britain and Ireland and Louise, Grand Duchess of Baden, Princess of Prussia. Christmas, 1858." Princess Louise (b. December 3, 1838, d. April 23, 1923) was the younger sister of Frederick III of Germany. Victoria, Princess Royal of England (b. November 21, 1840, d. August 5, 1901) married Prince Frederick William of Prussia January 1858. Frederick later became German Emperor and King of Prussia, known as Frederick III. 12 3/4" H x 12 1/2" W. Condition:
Crease and water stain lower margin of Princess Louise watercolor and light crease to Princess Victoria portrait lower right margin. Gilt bronze frame with light wear to oval frame edges and beading on crown.

Austro-Hungarian Empire Order of Franz Joseph medal dated 1845 crown-capped red enameled gilt-metal cross with white central shield bearing the initials FJ and dated on verso suspended from red ribbon and housed within original monogrammed velvet-lined box labeled: V. Mayers Sohne...Wien. L3 3/4'' Provenance: Hartsville South Carolina private collection. Medal appears to be in good original condition with minor rubbing to medal under crown; ribbon with some staining and minor wear on verso; box with normal wear consistent with age. May be slight enamel loss to the white portion above the clasping hands. Medal is marked on ring under ribbon.

AFTER F. WINTERHALTER, QUEEN VICTORIA PORTRAITPortrait of Queen Victoria of England, after the original by Franz Winterhalter. The young queen is depicted in a white silk and lace dress with blue sash, wearing a locket and diadem and holding a rose, with mountainous landscape background. Small paper label en verso reads "No. 38". Possibly original frame with fluted cove molding and acanthus carved corner ornaments, rope twist outer molding. Sight - 25" H x 18 1/2" W. Framed - 32" H x 25 1/2" W. Note: This painting by an unknown artist is likely a mid 19th century copy of one of Franz Winterhalter's original and very popular early likenesses of Victoria. The original was painted in London in 1842, shortly after Queen Victoria's ascension to the throne, and is now in the collection of HM Queen Elizabeth II, at Windsor Castle. The very same year, Winterhalter also painted another version of the portrait, showing the Queen wearing the Blue Ribbon of the Order of the Garter. That portrait, which was presented to Louis-Philippe, King of the French, resides today at the palace in Versailles. Provenance: Collection of Jack and Anne Wilson, Nashville, Tennessee. Condition:
Craquelure, especially affecting right side of subject's face, area of raised craquelure above her head. Blacklight indicates some light scattered inpainting/restoration to right area of face, neck, and upper chest area, scattered areas of background. Old wax lining. Frame with some warpage.
