TWO PAGES IN LATIN ON FETAL
TWO PAGES IN LATIN ON FETAL VELLUMTwo pages in Latin on fetal vellum, possibly from "Doctrinale puerorum" by Alexander of Villedieu, circa 1300 a.d. This is a very precisely written set of four pages on one sheet, probably from a text on grammar, written in the early Middle Ages. The script is so tiny that it benefits from a magnifying glass to read. It has been contemporarily corrected, with the addition of page numbers in Arabic script. Dimensions: (as folded) 8.75" x 6.25". Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $25.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
Condition:
The vellum has been trimmed and possibly used as a book cover. It has binding holes, and a small piece is missing from one edge. There is a large stain along the fold. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders. Condition: statements are only for general guidance and should not be relied upon as complete statements of fact and do not constitute a representation, warranty or assumption of liability by Witherell's. All lots are sold "AS IS" under terms and conditions. Please be advised we do not furnish packing materials nor porters for pick ups.
