Due to transitioning to a more powerful cartridge, beginning in 1913 the Model 1896 rifles were converted to 1896/11s by replacing or modifying the action and barrel, the sights, and the stock by grafting a wooden pistol grip. Matching serial number "313274" on barrel, receiver, bolt, and magazine; "274" on buttplate and trigger guard. Stock with added pistol grip and early serial number "26371" and "BERN". NOTE: Most firearms made after 1898 require passing an FFL background check prior to transfer. The date of production for this gun makes it subject to FFL rules.   SWISS MDL. 1914 PIONEER BAYONET A Swiss Model of 1914 "Sawback" pioneer bayonet manufactured at Neuhausen. The bayonet sports an 18 3/4" long blade with a 13" long section of alternating sawteeth on its spine. The blade is mounted to a 5 1/4" grip with wood panels and black painted finish to the cross-guard and pommel as well as the scabbard. The blade has significant surface rust primarily among the middle section of the blade as wel as some damage to the paint finish on both the guard and scabbard. The manufacturer, Waffenfabrik Neuhausen, is stamped at the base of the blade.

Original scabbard with aluminum mounts blue leather over wood body. Retains original frog and hanger. Sold with cloth and leather sword case that appears to be a replacement due to length. Overall 39 1/2'' long.CONDITION: Note nicks to leather.
