The symbol of combining the two roses came about as a result of a marriage between Henry Tudor of the Tudor dynasty and Elizabeth of York. After this historical marriage, the War of the Roses came to an end and the new Tudor Rose symbol, which combined the white rose and the red rose of the two houses, was created.
