OCALA GA PEANUT CO. VINTAGE WEATHER
OCALA GA PEANUT CO. VINTAGE WEATHER STATIONA unique advertising item- a wood slab with a mounted thermometer and a barometer, surrounded by advertising for Georgia Peanut Company, the Nation's Largest Peanut Merchant. They have offices in both Ocala and High Springs. and their employees truly work for peanuts. The wood tombstone is about 10" long, and has two slots each originally holding a closed glass tube. One housed a thermometer, but has a broken top, so thermometer does not work. The Barometer side is one of those quirky Science Physics contraptions, where objects float in a closed liquid filled glass tube at certain levels according to the barometric pressure which the peanut folks label as Fair, Change, or Storm. Something has happened because the objects, and there are many, float at all levels at random. The wood plaque is rather soiled and there is wear, but it makes an interesting advertising display piece.
