WILLIAM H. WELCH PLAQUETTE 1912WILLIAM H. WELCH PLAQUETTE 1912 These medals were given to the friends of Dr Welch at a dinner in his honor in April 1912. Dr Welch was the first physician recruited for Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1884. As one of the "Founding Four physicians" at Hopkins, he established the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, the first in the country. He was the first dean of the medical school and President of many organizations including the American Medical Association. Brenner designed this bronze plaquette for that dinner in 1912. Obverse has Welch in profile with his name at the bottom. Reverse has "From His Friends" over a rose and leaves. Uncirculated with nice tan patina
