WHALE'S IVORY TOOTH scrimshawed with bearded driver dog team in mountain landscape. Height 6.75''. Upright on walnut base. The tooth is in good overall condition but it has a few hairline cracks.

SCRIMSHAW WHALE'S TOOTH Engraved Whale's Tooth, with an image of two ships and a large river dolphin titled "Soo Soo of the Ganges", after a steel plate engraving by WIlliam Lizars (1788-1859) from the 40-volume "Naturalist's Library" (published in Scotland and sold by subscription, 1840-1880), verso a written description of the culinary benefits of this creature and noting that "this tooth is part of the old Ganges" and signed "Antone Magale, cook in ship Emperor Maximilian", 4 3/4" long. Good condition.
