No apparent signature. Multiple chips noted where the bust joins the socle, and the edge along the garment is rough. The column has many chips about the upper edge, and all corners of the square plinth have chips, the largest of which 2" x 1", approximately. Bust 22 x 28 1/2" high, raised on a black marble columnar pedestal with feather arrow motif encircling the base, atop a square plinth, 45" high. ESTIMATE $2,000-3,000

A 19th century Italian carved white
A 19th century Italian carved white marble bust of Caesar on circular socle unsigned 21.5ins Estimate ?800-1 200 Face of Caesar with many light scratches to the surface and some small nibbles and chips visible on the eyebrows eyelids upper lip and around ears largest is to the bottom lobe of the left ear which is about 1.25cm many scuffs visible in the hair work of the bust of the shoulder and torso section there are many grazes scratches and small chips around edge largest of these is about 1cm of which there are 3 along the bottom front edge. Bust has been resin attached to the socle which when viewed from behind is slightly yellower in colour and there is a small hairline crack issuing from this down the back of the socle but does not appear to be threatening. Socle somewhat scratched and abraised throughout a little grubby in appearance here and there throughout the bust but despite faults essentially fair. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear imperfections or the effects of aging.
