7 MILDRED YOUNGBLOOD BASKETSGroup of 7 split white oak baskets hand-made by Mildred Youngblood, Cannon County, TN, born about 1928, including 2 half-form hanging baskets, 11-1/2" x 12-1-4" W x 6-3/4" D and 12"H; 3 smaller buttocks baskets, 9-1/4" x 8-3/4" W x 8-1/2" D and 11-1/2" H; 1 medium size, 12" H, and 1 large buttocks basket, 16-1/2" H x 20" W x 17" D. 2nd half 20th century, TN. Provenance - Yates estate, Greeneville, Tennessee.
Condition:
All in good condition with minor surface grime. Two with prices written in pencil on handle. Glue residue from tag on handle of one hanging basket.

FIVE (5) CHEROKEE AND APPALACHIAN WHITE OAK BASKETSAssembled grouping of five (5) Native American Cherokee and Appalachian white oak baskets, all with alternating walnut and blood dyed weavers, including, two (2) lidded buttocks baskets with handles, one (1) shopping basket, one (1) small rectangular carrying basket with handle, and one (1) footed oval carrying basket with handle. Ranging in size from 5" H x 5 3/4" W x 5 1/4" D to 10 1/4" H x 12 W x 10 1/4" D. All 20th century.

Condition:
All in overall very good condition. Rectangular basket and both lidded buttocks baskets with fading to dyed weavers. Largest buttocks with one pin loss to one side of one lid, smallest buttocks basket with a couple of slight weaver losses to the base.

First Grouping of eight (8) Native American Cherokee miniature baskets, all with dyed weavers, including four (4) Ramona Lossiah rivercane or white oak baskets with Medicine Man Indian Crafts or Cherokee Indian made tags; one (1) double weave rivercane wastebasket or vase form basket; and three (3) white oak waste basket / vase form baskets, including one with Qualla tag for the maker Nancy Wilnoty; lot also in two Appalachian miniature buttocks baskets with dyed weavers and one with orange paint (possibly added later). All 20th century. Ranging in size from 1" H x 2 1/2" W to 4 1/2" H x 4 7/8" W.

Ranging in size from 1 1/2" H x 1 1/2" W x 1 3/8" D to 4 7/8" H x 5" W x 4 3/4" D. All last quarter 20th century.

Smallest buttocks basket with tag reading "Hand made by Bettie E. Tanner" with her address, largest buttocks basket signed and dated "Alberta Underwood, 1992", in pencil to the base. Ranging in size from 6 1/4" H x 7 1/2" W to 10 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W. All 20th century.

TWO HAND WOVEN CHEROKEE WHITE OAK BASKETS Two hand woven Cherokee white oak baskets, both of square section, the first by Carol Long woven with dyed white oak in the Star on the Mountain design, signed in pencil underneath and an Emma Taylor woven basket with butternut and bloodroot dye, having no apparent signature, both retaining tags for the Indian Arts and Crafts Board. Approximate measurements: Star h. 7", sq 5"; second h. 8. 25", sq. 6. 75".
