Depicting a shipwreck and rescue just off the coast in roiling waters. The boat to the right has "W.H." on its bow indicating the home port of Whitby Yorkshire UK. Great attention to the details of the buildings on the coast; Whitby Abbey at the upper left to the port with two lighthouses at the right.
