Magazine lock and butt plate are nickel plated. S/n 150390A. Barrel has 50% blueing and good rifleing. Stock has nice patina and little scratching.

Clean bore good rifling strong action. Barrel and magazine have a plum patina some dings in barrel. Frame has a more motled plum patina. Bottom of brass lifter very dinged up. Some scratches in wood. Trapdoor does not work freely. Buckhorn sights are nice good balance. Circa 1888.

  WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. W.C.F. 32 caliber 24'' octagonal barrel wide open rear sight dark oiled walnut stock crescent-style butt plate. S/n 439872. Bore clear rifling good action works but is too smooth hammer safety position can be set but does not hold when trigger is pulled. Metal and wood all have a very dark patina many old dings in wood. Lettering and numbers are worn but legible except for Model 1873 on upper tang. This area has been repeatedly struck with another metal object. The rear sight is wider than normally encountered. Even with problems still a nice looking gun. Circa 1892.

Lower retainer is missing. Forearm has chips out on both sides where it joins fore-end cap. Evidence on butt and forearm where sling swivels were attached. Bore is worn. Action is sound but hammer is missing half cock.

Butt stock is poor fit, small sliver of wood missing around top tang. Forestock has sliver of wood missing on left and right side just behind nose cap and on bottom at breech end. Bore dark. Replaced dust cover and rear tang screw.
