In 1966, Pang received a grant from the Asia Foundation that allowed him and his family to emigrate to the United States. His watercolors were exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, the New Jersey State Museum and the Berkshire Museum (Massachusetts). In 1983, Pang was invited back to Taiwan for a retrospective show at the National Historical Museum of China, an honor that had previously only been extended to the Chinese-French painter Zou Wou-Ki.
