CHINESE CARVED HARDWOOD AND MARBLE SIDE TABLES, 2 Near pair of Chinese carved hardwood tables, possibly hongmu or zitan and carved in the 19th century manner, the top inset with marble conforming to the smoothed octagonal outline and carved beaded detail to the edges, with pierced openwork frieze/skirt carved with floral and foliate motifs, the four legs joined by x-form stretcher and having auspicious dragon masks over the carved legs terminating on claw-and-ball feet. 18? H x 22? diameter. Provenance: From the estate of American film producer Martin Bregman (Scarface, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon). Removed from his Park Avenue apartment decorated by Sister Parish and Albert Hadley.

Good condition for reclaimed wood tables with expected age cracks, chips, whitewash residue, old repairs and small restorations throughout. This reclaimed wood top has beautiful graining, a waxed old uneven wood but smooth surface (no splinters) and is fairly heavy. a) of two side tables, the onyx top is of rounded form with endemic lines of orange onyx throughout, the onyx is set in a gilt wood carved stand with acanthus scrolls, on four acanthus cup and cover legs connected by a bamboo stretcher; overall height: 73 cm (28 3/4 in.); diameter of onyx table top: 39 cm (15 3/8 in.)
b) a wood carved gilt and onyx low table of oval form, the green onyx with endemic orange vains set in a wood gilt carved setting, featuring a continuous motif of a foliate scroll separated by a cartouche of a daisy, on four cap and cover ribbed legs; overall height: 59 cm (23 1/4 in.); dimensions of onyx table top: 81 x 54 cm (31 7/8 x 21 1/4 in.)
