A zushi traveling shrine having red and black lacquer with engraved gilt copper mounts the doors openings to reveal a gilt interior and bronze Amyateus wearing flowing robes and a crown standing on a lotus flower unmarked; ht. 12.75 in. Ex: Parke-Bernet Galleries New York NY 1938. Condition: Figure is slightly loose from the lotus flower. Top part of wooden case has come unattached. Wear to lacquer and gilt.

Japanese, 18th century, painted wood. The diminutive butsudan in ebonized lacquer exterior with finely detailed, foliate metal hardware, the double-doors revealing the shrine of gilded walls, brightly painted clouds and lotus pond. The figure in red with gilt drapery reminiscent of Kongara Dôji, the staff in his right hand absent.
