A Franz Mayer & Co. Stained Glass Pictorial Late 19th Century Depicting Mary Baby Jesus Mary Magdeline and angels within a quatrefoil design inscribed "Gift of Mr. & Mrs. P.C. O'Brien" inscribed lower right F. Mayer Munich New York. Not framed comprised of two sections. Franz Mayer & Co. is a famous German stained glass design and manufacturing company based in Munich Germany that has been active throughout most of the world for over 150 years. The firm was very popular during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and was the principal provider of stained glass to large Roman Catholic churches throughout the world. In 1888 a new branch in New York City was opened bringing international status and in 1892 Pope Leo XIII named the company a "Pontifical Institute of Christian Art".

A Large Figure of Mary The figure of Mary is set on a large polychromed pedestal base. The figure has as thick gesso layer on the exposed areas and is realistically painted. She has glass eyes, sewn hair wig with billowing curls, and a linen under skirt and brocaded dress and train with stars woven into the textile. Overall approx. 24-1/2"H. Arms articulated at the shoulder.

A Miniature Russian Icon Set in a Silver Cartier Frame Hand painted icon in polychrome and gilt depicting Mary and Baby Jesus with angels cyrillic lettering on one side a depiction of Jesus as the Turin shroud on the reverse both fit in a silver pendant frame under beveled glass. Princess Mary Christmas box: World War I era Brass box dated ''Christmas 1914'' measuring 5'' x 3 1/4'' x 1 1/8''. Princess Mary the 17 year old daughter of King George V and Queen Mary created a fund via donations from the public to send a Christmas gift to everyone in uniform. The boxes were filled with various gifts such as Cigarettes or Chocolates and issued to the soldiers sailors nurses and anyone in uniform. Condition good with a few very small discolorations to finish. See images.
